Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, we strongly recommend international travel and health insurance before visiting Bali.

Safety is one of our top priorities at Good Vibes Surf Club, but having your own insurance ensures you can receive the best care in case of unexpected incidents.

Is the surf retreat private or group-based?

Your experience is designed to be personalised and flexible. Guests enjoy private rooms and private 1-on-1 surf coaching unless you request to surf with friends or other guests.

This allows us to focus on your individual surf progression while still creating a relaxed community atmosphere.

What happens if surf equipment gets damaged?

Surfboards are rented from a local surf shack, so damage or loss of equipment is not included in the retreat price.

Typical repair costs range from IDR 50,000 for small dings or a lost fin up to around IDR 2,000,000 for a broken board.

How does Good Vibes Surf Club support the local community?

We work closely with local surf coaches, homestays, warungs, and creators to provide an authentic surf retreat experience while supporting the Bali community.

By choosing community-based tourism, you help support local businesses and create a more meaningful travel experience.

FAQ – Surfing in Kedungu, Bali

Is Kedungu a good surf spot in Bali?

Yes. Kedungu Beach is known for its smooth and playful waves, making it a great surf spot for beginners and intermediate surfers looking to improve their skills in Bali.

Compared to busier surf spots like Canggu, Kuta, or Uluwatu, the surf lineups in Kedungu are much more relaxed. This means more waves, less crowd pressure, and a more enjoyable surfing experience. The surf community here is welcoming and supportive, so you’re never just another surfer in the lineup — you’re part of the crew.

Can beginners learn to surf in Kedungu?

Absolutely. We welcome surfers of all levels, from complete beginners having their first surf lesson to intermediate surfers looking to level up their technique.

Our experienced ISA-certified surf instructors provide personalised coaching and help you work on everything from standing up on the board to improving paddling, wave selection, and turning.

What surf equipment is provided during the surf lessons?

For every surf session we provide everything you need, including:

  • Surfboard suited to your level
  • Long-sleeve rash guard
  • High SPF sunscreen
  • Zinc oxide sun protection

All you need to bring is your swimwear and a beach towel to dry off afterwards.

When is the best time to surf in Kedungu?

The best surf conditions in Kedungu usually occur during the dry season from May to September, when Bali experiences cleaner waves, offshore winds, and sunny days.

However, surfing in Bali is possible year-round and our instructors always choose the best surf spot based on daily swell and wind conditions.

Where do we surf during the retreat?

Most surf sessions take place at our home break, Kedungu Beach. Depending on conditions, we may also visit nearby surf spots such as Tanah Lot or Yeh Gangga.

Our local surf guides choose the best break each day based on the tide, swell, and your surfing level to ensure you feel safe and comfortable in the water.

Do I need to be a strong swimmer to surf?

No. You don’t need to be a strong swimmer to start surfing with us. Our instructors stay close by in the water and guide you step by step.

We begin in shallow water and focus on building confidence so you can relax and enjoy the waves safely.

Is the water cold in Bali?

No. Bali has warm tropical waters all year round, usually between 25–30°C.

If you get cold easily or want extra sun protection, we provide rash guards that you can wear during your surf sessions.

Can kids learn to surf with you?

Yes! Our ISA-certified surf instructors are experienced in teaching kids. Surfing is a fun and safe way for children to discover the ocean.

To ensure maximum safety, kids receive private one-on-one surf lessons with their own instructor. The only requirement is that your child can swim and feels comfortable in the water.

What happens if surf conditions are poor?

If the waves in Kedungu are not suitable for your level, we will look for nearby surf breaks that offer better conditions.

In rare cases of extreme weather or flat days, surf sessions may need to be cancelled. While refunds are not possible, we’ll help organise other fun activities around Bali so you can still enjoy your time.

Can I book extra surf sessions?

Yes. Daily surf sessions are included in your surf and stay package, but additional surf sessions can be booked for an extra fee.

Please contact us for pricing and availability if you’d like to spend even more time in the water.

Can non-surfers join the retreat?

Yes. We offer a non-surfer package so friends or partners can stay with the group and enjoy the accommodation, meals, and local experiences without participating in surf sessions.

Kedungu and the surrounding area offer great restaurants, cultural temples, beaches, and waterfalls, and we’re happy to help organise activities and transport.

FAQ – Location (Kedungu, Bali)

Why did you choose Kedungu for your Bali surf retreat?

Kedungu is one of Bali’s hidden gems. The waves here are mellow and playful, making it an ideal surf spot for beginners and intermediate surfers looking to improve their skills.

Unlike the busier surf towns in Bali, Kedungu offers a slower pace of life. Think black sand beaches, open rice fields, and unforgettable sunsets. Nature still leads the rhythm here, and the local community is welcoming and full of good vibes.

We chose Kedungu because it’s a place where surfing, exploration, relaxation, and human connection naturally come together.

Is Kedungu close to other popular places in Bali?

Yes. Kedungu is located on Bali’s west coast and is only about a 30-minute drive from Canggu, one of Bali’s most popular surf and dining destinations.

This means you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Kedungu while still having easy access to restaurants, beach clubs, shopping, and nightlife when you feel like exploring.

Do you offer airport transfers?

Yes, we can organise airport transfers for you and your travel group at any time of the day or night.

Whether you’re arriving or departing from Bali, we’ll make sure your journey between the airport and Kedungu is smooth and stress-free.

Can you help arrange transportation around Bali?

Absolutely. We can organise scooter rentals, private drivers, and cars for day trips or sightseeing around Kedungu and the wider Bali area.

If you prefer app-based transport, services like Gojek and Grab are also widely available and convenient for getting around or ordering food to your accommodation.

Is scooter rental included in the surf retreat package?

No, scooter rental is not included in the package price. However, we’re happy to help organise a scooter rental for you during your stay, and it can be delivered directly to your accommodation.

Are there spas and wellness options in Kedungu?

Yes. Kedungu has several great wellness spots where you can enjoy traditional Balinese massages and spa treatments.

We’re happy to help book appointments for you, and Good Vibes guests receive exclusive discounts at selected local spas.

Are there restaurants and cafes in Kedungu?

Yes. Kedungu has a growing selection of local restaurants, beachside cafes, and small eateries where you can enjoy fresh Balinese and international food.

As a Good Vibes guest, you’ll also receive exclusive discounts at selected Kedungu restaurants and businesses.
